Selecting clothes to wear in a photoshoot is one of the most important decisions. Using the wrong outfits can lead to a less harmonious photography result as desire as well as giving more complications to the photographer in post processing.

As example here, a little girl is wearing light cream dress with light grey shoes in a bluebells mini photoshoot I did last year in Bishopstoke, Eastleigh.

So here are a few guidelines you can follow:

When in doubt, choose neutral colours. In most of cases, colours like white, black grey and brown will always go well. Better to don't choose bright colours or patterns unless the shoot has a specific theme that needs them.

Avoid logos and messages. They attracts too much attention and it can end into a no desirable results.

Be mindful with your shoes. Sometimes we forget about them but as many times they are visible, ideally you wan't to keep them discreet. Plain neutral colours are the best.

Jewellery and make up, less is more. They can be very distracting (visually speaking). Best decision is to try to keep make up natural and don't overwear jewellery.

I'm always happy to guide my clients when they are unsure in what to choose, you can find more ideas of neutral colours an clothes from real photoshoots in my portfolio.
